Cesson-Sévigné, France – August 16, 2024 – Unseenlabs, the global leader in space-based radio frequency (RF) detection, is pleased to announce the successful launch of its BRO-14 and BRO-15 satellites. This pivotal launch, integrated by Exolaunch into a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on the Transporter-11 mission, took place from the Space Launch Complex 4E at Vandenberg, CA, USA, on August 16, 2024. It significantly bolsters Unseenlabs’ capabilities in maritime surveillance.
Advancing maritime security
With the successful addition of BRO-14 and BRO-15 to its constellation, Unseenlabs has enhanced its ability to detect RF emissions from ships, including those with deactivated AIS transponders. This advanced technology is crucial in identifying and combating illegal activities at sea, such as overfishing, piracy, and ocean dumping.
“Expanding our constellation with BRO-14 and BRO-15 is a major step forward in enhancing maritime security,” said Jonathan Galic, CTO & co-founder of Unseenlabs. “Our ongoing collaboration with SpaceX and Exolaunch continues to support our mission to provide reliable and accurate maritime surveillance.”
Strategic growth and technological innovation
In February, Unseenlabs secured €85 million in funding, reflecting strong investor confidence in its innovative technology and strategic vision. This funding supports the continued development and deployment of advanced satellite systems, ensuring Unseenlabs remains a leader in space-based RF detection.
Founded in 2015, Unseenlabs has grown to a team of 90 employees and continues to expand its office spaces to support its growing workforce. The company serves a diverse range of international clients, including governments, NGOs, shipowners, and marine insurers, providing actionable data for enhanced maritime security.
Technological leadership
Unseenlabs’ unique monosatellite technology enables individual satellites to independently collect RF intelligence, ensuring continuous global coverage and reliable operation under various conditions.
“Our new satellites, BRO-14 and BRO-15, will enhance our ability to monitor and analyze RF emissions with unmatched efficiency,” said Clément Galic, CEO and co-founder of Unseenlabs. “This successful launch underscores our commitment to innovation and excellence in maritime surveillance.”
